Livia Fernanda Santana, daughter of Neiva Braga and Afonso Santana of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, married John Thomas Shields, son of M. Lavelle and John T. Shields of Greenwich in Belo Horizonte. Padre Junior Vasconcelos do Amaral, a Roman Catholic priest, officiated and celebrated the ceremony at the Basilica Nossa Senhora de Lourdes. A reception followed at Casa Bernardes.

The couple met in Belo Horizonte in December 2004, when Livia’s sister Lara married Evan Hunt, a classmate of J.T.’s from Greenwich High School.

The bride is a graduate of Pitagoras High School and University Uniao Nacional do Administradores in Belo Horizonte. She is a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. The groom is a graduate
of Greenwich High School and Lehigh University. He is a financial market analyst for Union Bancaire Privée in New York.

The couple honeymooned at Resort Iberostar in Bahia, Brazil, and now resides in Stamford.






Holly Marie Sorensen and Samuel Edward Mokhiber met in New York through church friends. After three dates, Holly headed off to Iowa for two months to sing with the Des Moines Metropolitan Opera Company; their romance heated up through the phone wires. By the time Holly returned to New York, their love was here to stay! The Reverend Tom Oates united the couple at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, and a reception followed at the Stamford Yacht Club.

A group of former Grace Notes serenaded the couple singing “Sunrise, Sunset” from Fiddler on the Roof and an original toast set to the tune of “My Darling Clementine” about the couple’s courtship.

The bride is a graduate of Greenwich High School and Wesleyan University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in music. She did graduate work at the Hartt School of Music and is an opera singer. Her parents are Alice and Eric Sorensen of Greenwich.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is employed in equities derivatives trade support with Goldman Sachs in New York. He is the son of Deborah and David Mokhiber of Niagara Falls, New York.

The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and on the Oregon coast. They live in Greenwich. 






Sara Cecelia Galvan met Luke Aaron Bronin when they were both Rhodes Scholars in 2001. They returned to the States where both started law school at Yale. Luke proposed their last evening in New Haven with a series of culinary delights from all the places they had traveled together. Typically not one to cook, Luke had pulled together a menu with cuisine from Thailand, South Africa and Poland.

The groom’s godmother, Episcopal minister the Reverend Carol Gadsden, performed the nuptials, and the reception took place at the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria in Austin, Texas.

The bride, daughter of Mary Elizabeth and Eleuterio Galvan of Houston, Texas, is a graduate of Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart; the University of Texas, Austin, with a master’s in science, economic and social history; University of Oxford; and a juris doctor from Yale Law School. Sara is the Gallivan Research Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut Law School and legal and development consultant at Becker & Becker in Fairfield.

The groom, son of Elaine Jones-Bronin and Dr. Andrew Bronin of Greenwich, attended Phillips Exeter Academy and Yale University. He graduated from the University of Oxford and Yale Law School. Luke is an associate counsel and special assistant to the general counsel at Hartford Financial Services Group.

The Hartford newlyweds will honeymoon in Chile and Argentina in November.
